So I rented a car.. in Iceland!

If you are in Reykjavik for at least one day and wondering what’s there to do, renting a car and driving around the island is an experience you won’t forget.

I decided to do so the night before arriving to Reykjavik, went online, booked a car for next day and checked the weather to make sure I schedule this right. The next day I got the phone number of our Port Agent (just in case something went wrong), went to pick up the car and.. I was so stressed and excited of my next adventure!!

I have to confess first, this was the first time I was driving outside the city. I started driving recently and mostly within the city limits. Hitting the road in a foreign country in a car that I am not really used to got me worried but nevertheless, I had made up my mind and I was doing it! And it was fun and excited and it made me so so happy. I just wished I was less stressed and took more pics along the way..

Where to drive? The Golden Circle is a fun and touristic ride with stops such as Þingvellir National Park, Geysir and Strokkur Hot Spring Area and my favorite, Kerid Volcanic Crater Lake. I did not make it to the waterfalls cause it was already late and I had to get back to the ship but I heard they are worth visiting too.

I am really considering another trip next time. The view while driving was absolutely amazing and hard to describe in words. Iceland is beautiful and it sure is a place you need to explore outside the harbor/ city limits.

Have any question from where to rent a car and how to plan a trip around the Golden Circle? Make you you use the comment section and I will get back to you.
